Mondi faces £83mln hit as fire foreces closure of paper mill for good
Mondi PLC (LSE:MNDI) has said the closure of one of its paper mills following a fire last month will cost it €100 million (£83.4 million). The Stambolijski mill in Bulgaria will be shut for good after the fire in late September, Mondi said on Friday, affecting around 300 employees.
Mondi nosedives after disclosing substantial fall in sales
Large-cap paper producer Mondi PLC (LSE:MNDI) fell nearly 9% on the FTSE 100 this morning following a less-than-encouraging third-quarter trading update. Underlying earnings for the quarter fell 37% sequentially to €223 million (£186 million), primarily attributed to “more planned maintenance shuts and a forestry fair value loss”.
