CPI Median YoY measures the percentage change in the median consumer price index in Canada compared with the same period one year earlier. This indicator helps to evaluate core inflation by excluding extreme price fluctuations from certain components, providing a clearer view of underlying inflationary trends. It is monitored as a measure of price stability in the economy.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the CAD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the CAD.
