Scharf ETF Profile

NASDAQ (NMS) Exchange
US Country
KAT is an actively managed Exchange Traded Fund that primarily invests in a concentrated portfolio of 25 to 35 mid- and large-capitalization equities sourced globally. The fund's objective is to achieve substantial long-term capital appreciation while aiming to minimize potential losses. Its strategy is rooted in a disciplined value-oriented approach, identifying companies with robust financial fundamentals—such as growing earnings, cash flow, or book value—that are currently undervalued in the market. This selection process is guided by five core principles: pinpointing undervalued assets, maintaining investment flexibility, applying a concentrated focus, and adopting a patient, long-term investment horizon. Geographically, KAT has the flexibility to invest up to half of its assets in international markets, with a quarter of its total portfolio potentially allocated to developing economies. The fund's holdings can span a wide range of instruments, including common and preferred stocks, rights, warrants, special situation investments, and various global depositary receipts (ADRs, EDRs, GDRs). Furthermore, up to 30% of the portfolio may be invested in fixed-income securities and other ETFs. For defensive purposes or to maintain liquidity, KAT also has the option to transition its entire portfolio into cash or short-term instruments. Positions are exited when their potential for future growth diminishes, or they no longer align with the fund's established valuation and fundamental criteria. On August 25, 2025, KAT transitioned from its previous mutual fund structure to an ETF, commencing with an initial asset base of $406.69 million.
