Novo Nordisk has launched its Wegovy pill in Germany, a spokesperson for the Danish drugmaker said on Tuesday, with investors keenly focused on the oral weight-loss treatment in light of intensifying competition with U.S. rival Eli Lilly.
Novo Nordisk shares fell on Thursday after Deutsche Bank downgraded the Danish drugmaker to Sell from Hold and lowered its price target, citing concerns over the company's growth prospects. The company's US shares declined about 2% in trading, with Deutsche Bank cutting its target to 265 Danish kroner from 290 kroner.
The stock has tumbled 70% since its June 2024 peak, as the drugmaker has contended with intensifying competition from rival Eli Lilly as well as knockoff versions of its blockbuster Ozempic diabetes and Wegovy weight-loss jabs.
