My Buy rating for Rakuten Group is unchanged, as I think that investors' major concerns about the stock have eased. RKUNF's credit health is expected to improve for the future; the company has targeted to reduce its net leverage metric by half within the next 2 years. RKUNY's wireless unit is anticipated to become EBITDA-positive in FY25 on the back of subscriber growth and ARPU expansion.
The financial advisory joint venture of the securities arms of Mizuho Financial Group and Rakuten Group is aiming to reach 50 billion yen ($357 million) in customer assets in its first five years of operations, its chief executive said.
Japan's largest credit card company, Rakuten Card, is aiming to almost double its annual operating profit to 100 billion yen ($663.7 million) in the medium term and sees opportunity in expanding into the largely untapped business-to-business payments market, its new chief executive officer said.

We have disclosed the latest consolidated financial report at 3:30 p.m.
Rakuten achieved positive quarterly operating profit for the first time in 17 quarters, with an operating income of JPY 537 million for Q3 2024. RKUNY suffered from operating losses for four straight years running in the 2020-2023 time frame, and I expect a turnaround with expectations of positive operating profit for Rakuten in 2025. I stick to my existing Buy rating for Rakuten, as it has reached a profitability inflection point and is deserving of higher valuations.
Japan's Mizuho Financial Group will take a 15% stake in Rakuten Group subsidiary Rakuten Card for 165 billion yen ($1.06 billion) in a further deepening of the two companies' strategic alliance, they said on Wednesday.
