Overview

TranSwitch Corporation, operating with its subsidiaries, specialized in the design, development, and provision of integrated circuit and intellectual property solutions aimed at enhancing the functionality of voice, data, and video communications equipment across customer premises and network infrastructure markets. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Shelton, Connecticut, the company embarked on offering advanced integrated multi-core network processor system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions catering to a variety of applications including fixed, 3G and 4G mobile, VoIP, and multimedia. TranSwitch Corporation targeted a broad array of market segments including public network system original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), WAN and LAN equipment OEMs, Internet-oriented OEMs, and communications test and performance measurement equipment OEMs. Additionally, it liaised with government entities, universities, and private laboratories, supplying directly in notable regions such as North America, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, and Europe, besides leveraging a network of distributors across North America, Asia, and Europe. Despite its expansive product portfolio and significant market presence, on November 21, 2013, TranSwitch Corporation filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut, marking an end to its operational tenure.
