Douglas Elliman Inc. ( DOUG ) Q3 2025 Earnings Call November 4, 2025 8:00 AM EST Company Participants Heather Capriola Michael Liebowitz - CEO, President & Director J. Kirkland - Executive VP, Treasurer & CFO Presentation Operator Welcome to the Douglas Elliman's Third Quarter 2025 Earnings Conference Call.
A Wall Street watchdog is probing trading activity ahead of a failed takeover bid for Douglas Elliman and has asked the luxury real estate brokerage who knew about the offer before it became public in late May, according to letters seen by Reuters and three people familiar with the matter.
Douglas Elliman may no longer be a takeover target, following the recently announced Compass/Anywhere merger. Still, don't rule out the potential for shares to make a major recovery, even if the luxury real estate brokerage firm stays independent. It may not take much to send DOUG, trading for under $3 per share, to over $5 or maybe even over $10 per share.

Douglas Elliman (DOUG) is making progress with its turnaround, but recent takeover talk has been the main driver of price action lately. Although little has come out about the alleged offer, which came from a larger competitor, other strategic buyers may be interested in making a "bolt on" acquisition of Douglas Elliman. Furthermore, even if the company rebuffs any takeover offer, the company's turnaround could continue, even if the residential real estate market stays sluggish.

Douglas Elliman's CEO Howard Lorber has retired, replaced by Michael Liebowitz, who appears to be focused on cost-cutting and restructuring the executive team. Despite cost-cutting efforts, I do not foresee Douglas Elliman returning to profitability in 2025 without a concrete plan for revenue diversification. The real estate market remains challenging with high mortgage rates and low affordability, impacting transaction volumes and the company's financial outlook.
Douglas Elliman is one of the biggest names in real estate, but it has been touched by a scandal. Elliman's new CEO, Michael Liebowitz, explains how he will improve the fortunes of the brokerage.
