Rocky Brands' Post-Tariffs Margins Are Not Very Attractive, Back To A Hold Rating
Rocky Brands, Inc.'s Q4 2024 earnings showed 8.8% YoY growth but suffered from higher SG&A costs, impacting margins negatively. The company expects FY 2025 topline growth without earnings improvement, partly due to 10% China tariffs affecting EPS by $0.60. Despite growth in wholesale and DTC, increased SG&A costs and logistics expenses led to less profitable sales and an absolute loss.

Rocky Brands: 2025 Recovery Presents Upside (Rating Upgrade)
Rocky Brands reported weak Q3 results with slow wholesale orders amid pressured consumer spending, inventory shortages, and dry weather. After the weakness, Rocky has better growth prospects ahead in 2025 with improving industry growth and strong initial spring season bookings. The stock discounts Rocky's earnings prospects after the primarily transitory Q3 weakness, and I now estimate 46% upside to a fair value of $36.6.
Rocky Brands' Q3 Was Not As Bad As The Market Reaction, The Stock Is Now A Buy
Rocky Brands, Inc. reported Q3 2024 results today, with revenues down YoY, and more challenged margins. This reversed a trend of revenues growing (adjusted for non-recurring factors) and operating margins growing, in line with deleveraging financially. Rocky is down 40% since I wrote a Hold article on the name in July 2024. The stock now offers a yield of 16% on projected earnings at 9% margins.
